Himpunan Hijau 2.0

Hello friends and readers.

Just a short update cum invitation.

Jommmm turun ke Kuantan weekend nih. We are having the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 at Padang MPK4 at 9:30 in the morning.

Himpunan Hijau is about the environment. Its about disallowing toxic and hazardous industries to be set up in our nation, when the country of origin itself has already rejected it.

HIMPUNAN HIJAU 2.0 RESOLUTIONS

Himpunan Hijau 2.0 calls upon all Malaysians to support our campaign to :

1) Demand for the Immediate Termination of the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (LAMP)

2) Reject or call for re-evaluation of all existing hazardous projects in Malaysia.
·    Termination or full review of all existing hazardous / high-polluting projects in Malaysia that have not gone through rigorous evaluation, transparent information disclosure, open public consultation and endorsement including but not limited to Bukit Koman Gold Mine, Rawang High-tension cables, Cameron Highlands Incinerator, Lumut Iron Ore Plant, and Orang Asal land grabs.
·    Mandatory and prior consultations with civil society and stake holders on environmental matters and all developmental plans which are likely to affect them or in which they have an interest.
·    Full Transparency & Disclosure of Information. Uphold the right of everyone to receive clear and timely information on environmental matters and all development plans and activities which are likely to affect them or in which they have an interest.
·    Prevent pollution of any part of the environment and allow no build-up of radioactive, toxic, or other hazardous substances.

3) Require all development proposals to be sustainable & in stringent compliance with the principles of the Earth Charter.

We have been assured by the police that they will not stop participants from entering Kuantan, will not interfere with the gathering and will ensure the safety of all.

It is not bad to demonstrate and voice out our displeasure. Please do not let anyone tell you otherwise. This is our country, our land, our rice bowl. We have a say in it. Not 5 years once, but everyday, every minute.

Come join us in solidarity, in putting a stop to toxic and hazardous industries. We after all, owe it to our children, as we borrowed this earth from them.

Hope to see you people on Sunday.....

Have a great weekend.
